Real Molding Data. Real Material Insights.

Selecting the right polymer requires a level of precision that legacy, isothermal tests simply cannot provide. Therma-flo™ software closes this gap by leveraging the Beaumont Moldometer to capture direct, nonisothermal data from real mold channels. We organize this proprietary data into Material Molding Maps—clear, visual tools that reveal how a polymer truly behaves. This data-driven mapping system gives you the clarity to optimize designs and accelerate production with confidence.

The Beaumont Moldometer

Traditional isothermal capillary rheometers were designed for extrusion, not molding. They measure polymer flow through heated channels, heated conditions that do not exist inside an injection mold. The Beaumont Moldometer was created specifically to capture the true, nonisothermal behavior of polymer melts during mold filling. Each material characterization test produces up to 6,000 unique data traces, revealing how the melt responds as the frozen layer develops and flow conditions change. Data is based on real molding behavior, not an approximation.

Therma-flo™: Turning Raw Data Into Insight

Therma-flo™ manages the Beaumont Moldometer data and organizes it into Material Molding Maps – clear, visual outputs that show how a polymer behaves under a wide variety of realistic molding conditions. Therma-flo™ is not a simulation program. It is a data-driven mapping system that:

  • Analyzes pressure, velocity, and temperature interactions
  • Evaluates wall thickness sensitivity of a polymer melt
  • Quantifies melt temperature effects on pressure
  • Contrasts multiple polymers under identical conditions

Therma-flo™ Material Molding Maps

Therma-flo generates several categories of maps that support manufacturability evaluation. These maps provide a complete picture of how a polymer behaves inside a mold — something no legacy isothermal method can offer. Examples of molding maps include:

Flow Behavior Maps

Show how cavity fill pressure changes with melt velocity through a cavity, shear rate, and temperature across multiple wall thicknesses.

Geometry Sensitivity Maps

Reveal how cavity wall thickness affects fill pressure at specific melt temperatures and flow rates.

Material Comparison Maps

Quantify molding differences between polymers using percent difference pressure maps.

Molding Viscosity Maps

Show how mold temperature affects molding viscosity and flow behavior, including the Melt Temperature Sensitivity Coefficient (TSC).
