If you design or manufacture optical parts like lenses and lighting assemblies, you know that achieving perfect clarity and light transmission is no easy task. Even the slightest miscalculation can compromise the optical integrity of your final product.
That is why we are thrilled to announce that MPL-410 Viscoelasticity for Birefringence is now officially available at Beaumont Advanced Processing!
When dealing with injection-molded clear components, birefringence is one of the most critical hurdles to overcome. Birefringence occurs when a single ray of light enters a molded part and splits into two. This optical distortion is heavily influenced by molecular orientation and molded-in stresses generated during the high-pressure injection molding process.
If you don't understand how these stresses will form inside your specific material and geometry, it is nearly impossible to fully optimize the intended performance of your optical products.
Our recently added MPL-410 material characterization package is designed to take the trial and error out of optical molding.
By testing for this specific data, MPL-410 completes the optical properties tab in your material’s .udb file. The result? You are armed with the exact viscoelastic data required to accurately predict and account for birefringence directly within your flow simulations.
Instead of waiting for first shots to discover optical flaws, you can identify molded-in stresses, adjust your processing parameters or part geometry, and solve birefringence issues before you ever cut steel for your mold.
We are your veteran-founded, American-made, innovation-driven team ready to serve all your injection molding needs.
