The Technology: Automated, Flawless Sorting

The KEYENCE camera scans each lens for a variety of surface imperfections, including:

  • Contamination
  • Scratches
  • Cloudiness
  • Other microscopic surface defects

Once the scan is complete, the vision system communicates directly with our robotics to automatically accept or reject the part in real time.

Traditional vision systems can be rigid, often rejecting parts for minor anomalies that don't impact final part quality. Our AI system is different. We train the AI on both acceptable parts and known defects. Because no molded lens is truly perfect at a microscopic level, we also teach the system which imperfections are acceptable to leave alone.

From there, we dial in the defect limit. The system is programmed specifically to inspect at the absolute limit of human detection, ensuring we meet customer requirements without generating false rejects.
