How Beaumont utilizes the AIM Institute to improve our workforce

Over the last 25 years, the Beaumont Family of Companies has grown and evolved to continue fulfilling the needs of the injection molding industry. One common denominator has remained the same: our people.

We’re driven by individuals who not only are passionate about what they do, but are exceptional at it as well. The Beaumont team’s roster appears to be stacked thanks to our leadership’s emphasis on advancing employees’ skills and employee education.

The AIM Institute, one of the four organizations in the Beaumont Family of Companies, provides a variety of high-quality education and training for the injection molding industry. In fact, the AIM Institute provides the only ANAB-Accredited programs in the industry.

At Beaumont, we put our money where our mouth is when it comes to employee education and training. Several Beaumont employees recently graduated from the Plastics Engineering Technology (PTE) Certificate Program, which provides a comprehensive and rigorous curriculum that dives into the topics of plastic materials, mold design, injection molding, and part design.

“The PTE Program was very helpful. It was a great review/refresher for me- I graduated 5 years ago from the PLET Program at Behrend. It gave me a greater knowledge of materials and a better understanding of tooling, both in the part design and tooling design aspects. It is a great program that I believe everyone at our company should go through,” said Ryan Gustafson, who works as a Process Engineer at Beaumont Advanced Processing.

Dylan Womer, Design Engineer at Beaumont Development, also recently graduated. “The PTE Program allowed me to learn or refresh on knowledge that is used everyday in my field,” he said. “You are able to learn a lot of information very quickly because of how the class is laid out. During the week of in-person classes, a ton of information is given to you, and then the 10 weeks of online reviews and homeworks slow everything down, which allows you to grasp and retain all of the information. The instructors help so much to make sure you understand everything by breaking it down for you. The PTE classes helped improve my critical thinking skills and also broke down some of the niche molding processes that I see in my job. It also allows you to think about and understand every step of making a plastic part, from the development stages to the final molded product. I think that our company investing in further education is a great thing because you never stop learning in this field. The more training and education we receive, the better we are at helping others and improving the industry.”

Their leaders support employee education and can attest to how it benefits their teams. “The PTE program provides my team members with the additional knowledge to remain on the cutting edge of the industry. By reducing the knowledge gap, our graduates are able to proficiently navigate through complex issues in order to provide multiple solutions to our customers. Knowledge is Power!” said David Corsi, Design and Simulation Engineering Manager at Beaumont Development.

Eric Bowersox, Director of Beaumont Advanced Processing, notes: “Continuing Education is a must at Beaumont Advanced Processing. We believe that you should never stop learning and growing as a professional. A very high percentage of our employees are Plastic Engineering graduates, but as one AIM Institute instructor once commented, ‘In college you are learning the answers to questions that you don't yet know you have.’ Because of this, we realize the need to now provide an avenue of education to our employees after they have had some time on the job. The PTE Program has been an extremely valuable tool to utilize in order to help our employees continue on in their own professional development.”

We are proud of our employees who worked diligently to earn their PTE Certificates and look forward to encouraging more team members to go through the program. To learn more about the PTE Certificate Program, visit https://aim.institute/courses/pte-program/
